Wabi-Sabi Textures.

That is my Art"

Alexia is a contemporary self-taught abstract and mixed media painter. Her signature works display joyous, vibrant colors created with specific alcohol inks. She works hard to create earthy and imperfect, 'wabi-sabi' textures which she in turn layers underneath and into her inks.  Many of Alexia's paintings are infused with local wines both Chardonnay and Cabernet. She uses the wine to create unique reactions and to manipulate the inks. Her process of 'wabi-sabi' is a layer-by-layer adding and stripping away technique that involves patience and a great deal of experimentation.

"quite literally--anything inside my Studio is fair game to use, to create an interesting painting and deeply original piece of Art- that is how I began working with wine-"

Alexia now lives in San Diego, California, and is a Resident Artist in The ARTS DISTRICT at Liberty Station. Alexia has exhibited her works in galleries and solo shows across the United States

"I started drawing horses and super hero type people with rippling muscles as a kid. I spent a lot of time in my room by myself and this was the primary activity that gave my heart peace."
